View of the Grand Dome: housing the bar of the Intercontinental Lyon – Hôtel-Dieu Hotel

On June 4th, 2019, the Intercontinental Lyon – Hôtel-Dieu, opened its doors with 13,237 sqm of luxurious space and revealed its 144 rooms as well as its convention center l’Académie by Intercontinental, covering 2,500 sqm.

After six years of substantial construction works, this opening completes the 51,500 sqm of the new Grand Hôtel-Dieu, and the InterContinental Lyon – Hôtel-Dieu – 5 stars is its centerpiece.

Following eight centuries of uninterrupted use as a hospital, the Hôtel-Dieu, whose impressive architecture could no longer meet modern medical needs, closed its doors in 2010 before partially reopening them in 2018. Since the reopening on April 27th, 2018, the property has housed some 50 shops and restaurants, offices and apartments. It further includes several courtyards, a private carpark, and will soon house the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie.

It represents the largest listed building conversion project ever undertaken by the private sector in France.

Scaprim, the French subsidiary of the TwentyTwo Real Estate group, has been the Asset, Property, and Project Manager of this exceptional project since 2015.

On this occasion, Françoise Debrus, Director of Real Estate investments of Crédit Agricole Assurances Predica, who owns 90% of the property, said:

“We are pleased of our partnership with Scaprim on the Grand Hôtel Dieu and the Halle Boca* projects. Scaprim was our acquisition advisor for these two properties, and we retained the group as their manager. The synergies of Scaprim’s different lines of expertise, including Asset Management, Project Management, and Property Management, provides Scaprim with agility that enables it to create value for complex assets.”

* The Halle Boca is a separate project located in Bordeaux that is majority-owned by CAA Predica, for which Scaprim is also the Asset and Project Manager
