Launch of a Photovoltaic Power Plant at the GreenBerry Logistics Site
The GreenBerry XXL logistics platform, acquired by TwentyTwo Real Estate Fund III, is embracing renewable energy with an ambitious solar project.
Following the successful leasing of 80,000 m² of warehouse space near Bourges, TwentyTwo Real Estate has signed a 30-year lease with a subsidiary of the Urbasolar group. This collaboration will enable the construction and operation of a 9 MWp rooftop photovoltaic power plant, positioning GreenBerry as one of the largest solar installations in the Cher department.
Triple Environmental, Economic, and Regulatory Impact
Nicolas Lutgé, Director of Commercial Asset Management at TwentyTwo Real Estate, explains:
“This partnership with Urbasolar, one of Europe’s leading photovoltaic companies, achieves three key goals: securing long-term rental income, complying with the 2023 Climate and Resilience Law, and generating carbon-neutral electricity on an already urbanised site.”
Antoine Millioud, CEO of Urbasolar, adds:
“We are thrilled to support TwentyTwo Real Estate’s sustainable development strategy through this project, set to begin construction early next year. With our extensive expertise in photovoltaic systems and experience as a partner of Afilog, we understand the energy challenges in the logistics sector and excel in rooftop solar installations.”
Setting New Environmental Standards
GreenBerry is a cutting-edge logistics platform designed to meet France’s increasing demand for large Grade A warehouses. With BREEAM Very Good certification and compliance with the Afilog charter, it integrates advanced technical and environmental features.
In addition to the rooftop solar power plant, photovoltaic canopies will be installed over parking areas. The electricity generated will directly benefit tenants, enhancing their efforts to decarbonise supply chains.
A Stronger ESG Commitment
As part of its ESG strategy, TwentyTwo Real Estate has partnered with Reforest’Action, planting 11,000 trees across France after leasing GreenBerry. This initiative is part of a broader effort to finance reforestation projects for every area leased by the funds managed by the group.
